A handwritten card can be the beginning rather than the whole gift. One short line invites them to scan; the digital letter carries the words you wanted more room for. The practical part matters: finish the letter first, leave the pattern clear and test the card you will actually give.

## Make it personal

1.  ### Publish the gift before making the card
    
    Write and preview your letter, then publish it to get its actual gift link. Download the provided heart QR artwork for that published gift. A draft preview link is not the handover: test the published destination before committing ink or printing.
    
2.  ### Give the pattern space
    
    Keep the downloaded artwork proportional, on a plain high-contrast background. Do not draw across the modules, crop the heart or fold through it. Avoid glare from glossy material. Test a sample print at your chosen size; decorative or very small prints can be harder to scan.
    
3.  ### Check the exact handover
    
    Scan the final card and confirm that it opens the right gift. If you added a secret, make sure the recipient can work it out. Keep the direct link available as an alternative, and do not unpublish or delete the gift after printing a code you still want to work.
