A playlist says what you like. A dedication explains why you chose it for this person. The cassette format gives you a playful way to separate the songs that take you back from the ones that point towards your next chapter. You do not need an enormous track list.
What to gather
- A small set of supported music links
- A memory attached to each selection
- An opening or closing letter in your voice
Make it personal
Give the two sides different purposes
Try Side A for moments you have lived and Side B for places you hope to go. The design divides the track list between its sides, so preview where the change happens. Aim for a sequence with a reason to turn the cassette over.
Write the liner notes before adding more tracks
For each selection, name the scene or connection in a couple of sentences. If you cannot explain a song beyond “you might like it”, consider whether it belongs. A familiar, imperfect choice with a real story often says more than a polished anonymous playlist.
Test the listening route
Check supported links and any audio you upload, then read every dedication with sound off too. External provider availability can differ by region. Keep the written story complete and share the published gift when your recipient can enjoy it at their own pace.
A Side B dedication
Fictional example — change the details so it sounds like you.
This one is for the road trip we keep planning on the backs of receipts. We have not taken it yet, but I already know you will choose the first song. Consider this my opening nomination.
Will they receive downloadable songs or a real cassette?
No. This is a digital gift with your dedications and supported playback sources, not a music download or physical cassette. The purchase does not include third-party music rights. Preview the design and check playback permissions before sharing.
